Our Summer Bible Study started yesterday with 95 ladies hungry to study the book of James. Part of our first session included being challenged to memorize the book of James.
I admit I have struggled with scripture memory most of my life and I was really hit with the phrase Beth Moore used "the graveyard of scripture memory". I'm afraid alot of my scripture memory is buried there because many times I memorize but don't keep practicing it so I completely forget it.
I was excited to receive some fresh encouragement through the acrostic Beth gave in the video. It will help us whether we are attempting a whole book of the Bible or even just one verse.
One thing I have not heard spoken in relation to scripture memory is "enjoy it." WOW, what a new concept for me to approach it this way. I usually approach it as a duty, or as one more thing I am suppose to do.
In this tutorial on memorizing scripture, Beth gives us the acrostic ABIDE .
If you struggle with scripture memory or just need some fresh perspectives and helps, this video gives very encouraging tips to approaching memorization.
I'm ready to start enjoying it -- are you?
Ps. I love the word unction too.
Take a peak at some more sights from our first day.
This year everyone was again blessed with a
handcrafted notebook journal made especially for the
"James" study. Each one is unique making the
decision of which one to pick difficult for some ladies.
A beautiful handpainted mural on the church wall greeted everyone
as they walked in . Here are 2 of our wonderful leaders sitting on the
"James" bench with the mural of the skyline of Monroe in the back.
We are being challenged this summer to care about our
community and put our faith into action.
The session started with a skit that interviewed "sister Passive Faith'
and sister Active Faith" Great job ladies!
What a great summer it will be spending it with God
and great Girlfriends!
